KBAQ Theater Critic Chris Curcio reviews two local productions, Black Theatre Troupe's "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill," a tribute to jazz/blues singer Billie Holiday's tragic and short life, and Arizona Jewish Theatre Company's "Shmulnik's Waltz," a romantic tale about young immigrants in New York City at the turn-of-the-last-century. Both productions run until January 11 with "Lady Day…" playing at the Herberger Theater Center and "Shmulnik's Waltz" playing at the Playhouse on the Park, both in downtown Phoenix.
