( Phoenix,AZ ) KBAQ Theater Critic Chris Curcio reviews the Arizona Opera premiere local production of Andre Modeste Gretry's 1771 version of "Zemire and Azor" or "Beauty and the Beast". The opera was an early adaptation of the popular story that is very different than the more familiar Walt Disney version. "Beauty and the Beast" played at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix and closed Sunday, March 11.
