KBAQ Theater Critic Chris Curcio reviews the five operas that were presented during the 2012/13 Arizona Opera season and the Arizona State University world premiere production of "soot and spit" that explores profoundly deaf artist James Castle.

"soot and spit" is about profoundly deaf artist James Castle and it is yet unknown if the artist was also unable to read, write, or use sign language. The play lets audiences into Castle's mind and allows them to experience what these challenges are like to those who have them. "soot and spit" continues through April 14th at ASU's Paul V. Galvin Playhouse.
