•Cage trust to Bard
•NYC Opera postpones "Ragtime"
•Police recover stolen violins

It's KBAQ's "This week in classical music" -- an update on what's happening in the classical music world... I'm Randy Kinkel.

The John Cage Trust and all it's holdings is moving to Bard College. The trust, which oversees Cage's works and performances, is to be called the John Cage Trust at Bard College bard's president Conductor Leon Botstein called the Trust an Extraoordinary Assett" and promised to make it's holdings available to members of the Bard Community and the general public. Cage's other major collections resie at Northwestern University and the University of California.

New York City Opera has postponed it's spring 2008 revival of "Ragtime". The revival, which was to take place in April, has been postponed indefinitely due to schedule conflicts between director Frank Galati and Choreographer Graciela Daniele. Sources said, "City Opera is delaying its production until the entire team is available to work on the piece."

Police in Paris say they have recovered two violins worth a total of $250,000, stolen from a Los Angeles Philharmonic Musician in December. The instruments were stolen from Violinist mark Kashp[er on December 23 from his west Hollywood home. French police were notified when an American man tried to sell them for $65,000 earlier this week.

For more information on these and other items and events, go to the KBAQ website at KBAQ.org... be listening every week at this time for another update, and join me at noon every weekday for the Mozart Buffet, an hour of music by Mozart and his contemporaries. I'm Randy Kinkel, for KBAQ's "This week in Classical Music" on 89.5 KBAQ Phoenix, a service of Rio Salado College and Arizona State University.
